Summary
English: The combat unit of the Little Boy atomic bomb (L-11) being assembled prior to being dropped over Hiroshima on 6 August 1945. On the left is Commander Francis Birch, on the right is Dr. Norman Foster Ramsey. Birch is using a brush to put the label L-11 on the case. Note the open case of the bomb. Visible inside the casing, mounted the gun-tube, is the clock box (large box at top), radar units used for fuzing (dark boxes), and batteries (light boxes at left).
